Delegation of the Ufa Eye Research Institute participated in the work of the Turkish Ophthalmology Society National Congress

 

6-10 November 2019 the 53th annual National Congress organized by the Turkish Ophthalmology Society took place in Kemer (Turkey). More than 2000 opthalmologists from all over the world participated in the work of the Congress every year. 

This year the Russian Federation was represented by the delegation of the Ufa Eye Research Institute headed by Professor Mukharam Bikbov. The delegation also included the Head of the Anterior Eye Segment Transplantation Laboratory Emin Usubov, the Head of the 2nd Mycrosurgery Department Renat Kazakbaev and ophthalmologists of the 4th Mycrosurgery Department Timur Khalimov.

Ophthalmologist from different countries shared their experiences and showed their achivements in symposia and forums within the Congress. Topics ot reports covered all current issues of the modern ophthalmology. 

There were interactive courses, simulation room for phacoemulsification and vitrectomy and poster session within the Conference. 

During the Opening Ceremony the participants were welcomed by the Chair of the Turkish Ophthalmologists Society Professor Osman Sevki Arslan. He noted the primary role of close cooperation between ophthalmic companies based on transparent principles and mutual respect.

The Ufa Eye Research Institute delegation presented 3 oral reports at the international sessions:

  • Emin Usubov - Repeated corneal crosslinking due to insufficient transepithelial protocol in patients with progressive keratoconus

The following delegates presented their reports at TOD GO young scientists session: 

  • Renat Kazakbaev - Femtosecond laser or manual approach: The Comparative analysis of the results of pterygium surgery
  • Timur Khalimov – Effectiveness of treatment of rheumatogenic ​retinal detachment ​with simultaneous ILM peeling

Modern technologies for treating eye diseases used by Ufa ophthalmologists aroused a great interest among Turkish colleagues as demonstrated questions and lively debate. 

The atmosphere of the Congress was warm and friendly. Such information sharing and discussion of current issues of diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases contribute to the development of the ophthalmology, improve and develop relationship, build friendship and mutual understanding between specialists from different countries, create an atmosphere of tollerance and mutual respect.
