The head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov acquainted with the work of the Ufa research Institute of eye diseases
On 6 February, the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov visited the Ufa research Institute of eye diseases, where he got acquainted with the work of the institution and discussed issues of development of science in the Republic.
Director of the Institute Muharram Bikbov told the head of the region about the history, the results of scientific and clinical activities, as well as innovative developments of the Institute – from unique equipment to medicines. Muharram Bikbov showed Rustem Hamitov a number of rare editions of the XIX century, preserved in the library of the Institute. The head of the Republic is advised to scan these books to keep for posterity and to help shape the e-Fund in Moscow burnt library INION.
In the Department of pathology of the cornea and lens Rustem Khamitov inspected the engineering design Bureau to develop prototypes of medical devices for ophthalmology. Here, in particular, the produced artificial lenses and contact lenses, grafts for keratoplasty, Xenomania for plastic operations on the body. According to the Director of the Institute, all development in the future is transmitted in the research and production Department, working on self-financing basis.
The head of Bashkortostan asked how ophthalmology dependent on imported technology and equipment and participating research institutes in the import substitution programs implemented by the Ministry of health of the Russian Federation. Muharram Bikbov said that the import dependence of this direction is 60-70 percent and development, the Institute seeks to address this problem. However, participation in competitive programs of the Russian ministries and agencies involves a long term licensing of the product, reaching two to three years. Rustem Khamitov noted that he had discussed the issue at a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev during his visit to Ufa.
– The time is now innovative and unusual. Need to make quick decisions. Otherwise, we will not leap out of this situation, – said the head of the Republic. – You show us the way from point a to point B as heis going, what obstacles do you have any administrative barriers. Going to remove them.

Then the Head of Bashkortostan discussed the issues of providing eye care and the development of science in the Republic with the Director General of interbranch scientific and technical complex "eye microsurgery" named after academician S. N. Chuhraeva Alexander Fedorov, President of the Academy of Sciences RB Ramil Bakhtizin and Director of the Institute of Muharram Bikbov.
Ufa research Institute of eye diseases, created in 1926, is the lead Agency for the provision of specialised ophthalmological treatment and consultative, diagnostic and surgical care in Bashkortostan. The Institute performs all types of high-tech medical aid in the field of "Ophthalmology". In 2014 has reached 1 666 inhabitants of the Republic at the expense of means of obligatory medical insurance in the amount 54,03 million. NII also plans and executes innovative projects, developing devices, drugs and technologies of ophthalmic surgery.
