Helmholtz" Roszdrava was held scientific-practical conference with international participation "Topical issues of pediatric ophthalmology - 2014". The aim of the conference was to summarize the results of scientific research in recent years, to identify areas for further development, to recommend for implementation in practical activities of children's ophthalmologists of modern science.
The conference was opened by Professor V. V. neroev, Director of the Moscow research Institute of eye diseases. Helmholtz Roszdrav, chief ophthalmologist of the healthcare Ministry. Welcoming remarks were made by Professor A.V. khvatova
The main children's ophthalmologist of Ministry of health of Russia, Professor Katargina L. A. presented the report "analysis of the state of the paediatric ophthalmology service in the Russian Federation".

4 plenary sessions were presented 55 presentations on the most topical issues in pediatric ophthalmology.
At the plenary session "Congenital ophthalmopathology" report Burkhanov, Yu. K et al. "Cataract surgery in children using a femtosecond laser" aroused great interest. During the discussion of the reports of thismeeting the majority of ophthalmologists have expressed the opinion that many of the early intraocular correction now remain debatable and require further study. Also covered topical issues of diagnosis and treatment of congenital glaucoma, laser surgery to treat eye diseases in children of prosthetics for congenital microphthalmic and anophthalmic, the results of keratoplasty in children, outcomes of surgical treatment of congenital ptosis.
At the plenary session "Retinopathy of prematurity" addressed issues of diagnosis, surgical and laser treatment of the ophthalmic pathology, peculiarities of course and treatment outcomes of aggressive posterior PH, the functional outcomes of the disease.
Plenary session "Retinoblastoma" included a program of lectures of Professor Sahakyan S. V. "Modern methods of treatment of retinoblastoma and vital prognosis" and Professor Zaletaev, D. V., "New aspects of the etiopathogenesis of the tumor". Addressed issues of epidemiology of retinoblastoma in Russia on the example of Kuzbass, Omsk and Arkhangelsk regions and Republic of Bashkortostan.
Sagadatova N. M. presented the report "Analysis of the incidence of retinoblastoma in the Republic of Bashkortostan for 2007 – 2013". The author noted an increased incidence of retinoblastoma in the Republic, including the most severe (bilateral) forms of this disease.
Keen interest was caused by reports on the modern organ-preserving treatment of the tumor (intra-arterial and intravitreal chemotherapy).
In the scientific-practical conference was attended by more than 300 pediatric ophthalmologists. Attended by leading specialists from different regions of Russia and foreign colleagues from Ukraine, Belarus, Uzbekistan.
At the conference held on meeting of the specialized Commission of the expert Council in the sphere of health Ministry of health of Russia on a speciality "paediatric ophthalmology".
