In Ufa on 6-7 June, was held fifth scientific-practical conference on ophthalmosurgery with international participation "East-West -2013", which was attended by more than 700 scientists and ophthalmologists from Russia, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, India and the near abroad: Ukraine, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan. The conference was held in plenary sessions and satellite symposia. Both days of the conference began with a demonstration demonstration of the operations of the operating Ufrii GB, which was conducted by the leading surgeons of the Institute (AA Bikbulatov, Usubov E. L., J. K. Burkhanov), Russia (K. B. Pershin, V. B. Laptev, S. A. the Total) and Germany (R Korff). The emphasis on technical aspects of surgery, during the operation it was a dialogue with surgeons, marked innovations in surgical technique, discussion of the features and detail. It is a real school, specifying the individual nuances of the surgical technique for the growth and improvement of surgeons, young professionals. For the first time among public health institutions of Russia ophthalmologists Ufrii GB has introduced a new technology cataract surgery using the most modern equipment combined system femtosecond laser VICTUS (Technolas).

Of particular interest was the lecture session of the Department of ophthalmology of the national University of Chiba (Japan) "It roprotective: from fundamentals to practice" with participation of leading scientists. The delegation was headed by head of the Department of ophthalmology and research of view. Vice-Director of Chiba University hospital, Professor Shuichi Yamamoto (Chiba University ranks in the top five in the ranking of Japanese universities). Studies as significant Japanese representation at the conference are fundamental and interesting in practical medicine. So, Professor Toshiyuki Oshitari presented the latest achievements in the field of neuroprotection and regeneration of retinal neurons. Madoka Sakurai reported neuroprotection in age-related macular degeneration, and Professor Takayuki Baba in vitreoretinal surgery. Prof. Shuichi Yamamoto presented the results of clinical trials of neuroprotective drops with retinitis pigmentosa. YUKO Hashimoto told aboutphacoemulsification in a private practice in Japan.

Sounded 91 report of the leading Russian and foreign experts on the most actual problems of ophthalmology: femtosecond laser cataract surgery, refractive surgery, treatment of retinal diseases and optic nerve injury and inflammatory eye diseases, pediatric ophthalmopathology.

In the section "Diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma" reports were presented, devoted mainly to the surgical treatment of this disease. So, M. Grieshaber (Switzerland) reported on the positive results canaloplasty glaucoma and the indications for this operation, Professor VL. Erichev (Moscow) - about features of drainage surgery and a differentiated approach to the choice of drainage device during surgery of primary and refractory glaucoma. Prof. E. V. Egorova (Moscow) in his report paid great attention to the choice of surgical method of treatment of angle-closure glaucoma complicated pseudoexfoliative syndrome. Effect of antihypertensive therapy on the activity of key immunological the pathogenesis of primary glaucoma were treated in the report of prof.With. Street (Moscow). Cataract-refractive surgery problem glaucoma was addressed in the report by E. A. Spiridonova (Samara). The results of surgical treatment of refractory glaucoma using synthetic sapphire drainage introduced, S. A. Volik (Krasnodar). Kugusheva A. E. (Moscow) presented an integrated approach in the treatment of post-burn glaucoma, including drug therapy, surgical intervention using pistoleiros operations and drainage surgery and the use of transscleral Vodlozero of cyclocoagulation. Several reports concerned actual issues of laser treatment. So, 1C. Lyubimov (Moscow) shared their experiences in the prediction of postoperative inflammatory response after selective laser activation of trabecula. On the role of diurnal variation of intraocular pressure in the progression of glaucomatous optic nerve damage and optimal antihypertensive therapy to reduce fluctuations in IOP told doctor of medical Sciences E. I. Volik (Krasnodar). With interest was heard the report of M. D. VD. Kunin (Ryazan) on the influence of hemodynamicdisorders in the blood vessels of the brain and eye on the stability of primary open-angle glaucoma.

Indian colleagues not only presented oral reports at the meetings and satellite symposia, and participated in an organized live teleconference Ufa (Russia)- Chennai (India). Indian researchers the role of stem cells in the reparation of the defect of the defective organ or tissue in the activation of the regeneration and proliferation of the surviving cells in organic diseases of the eye.

For the first time the conference held a session of the Presidium of the Board of the society of ophthalmologists of Russia, which was attended by leading ophthalmologists of the country. A meeting of the Association of heads of ophthalmologic clinics of Russia, uniting chief physicians, Directors of institutes and clinics, which were considered relevant organizational issues.
