December 12, Ufa research Institute of eye diseases, visited with working visit the head of the Department of ophthalmology, University Mannheim-Heidelberg (Germany), chief editor of the "British Journal of Ophthalmology," Professor Jost B. Jonas.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss issues on implementation of joint Bashkir – German research project "Kushida" aimed at the identification of ophthalmic diseases among the population of Ufa and Republic of Bashkortostan. The project involves a comprehensive eye examination 10 thousand inhabitants over 40 years, making it one of the largest ophthalmic research, conducted in the Russian Federation at this time. To implement the project uses the most modern diagnostic equipment and methods.
Professor Jost B. Jonas, together with the Director of the Institute, Professor Bikbov M. M. visited the office allocated for this study, talked with young professionals and residents who came to the examination.
The work of the Ufa ophthalmologists received a high evaluation of Professor Jost B. Jonas. Following the visit, adjustments were made to joint research activities.
Close international cooperation of scientific schools of the two countries contributes to further development of the Institute and increase its popularity among global ophthalmology community.
