Head of scientific-educational Department, MD Akmanova AA completed training courses on "WETLAB" on cataract phacoemulsification at the St. Petersburg branch of the fsbi IRTC "eye microsurgery" named after academician S. N. Fedorov from 09 to 20 September 2013.
The program of study included theoretical training in the form of lecture material, practical part, as well as view the operations for cataract in real time ("live surgery") on the TV screen and directly in the operating room. The most important responsibility was to work on training simulators, consisting of the operating microscope of the company "Leitz" and modern phacoemulsification, using as the object the eye surgery animals, using a full set of necessary tools, different intraocular lenses and other consumables. This practice gives you the opportunity to learn to operate in conditions close to real, and in the shortest possible time to master the technology of cataract surgery by phacoemulsification with implantation of foldable artificial lens. The teachers of the course were doctor of medical Sciences Yu. V. Tukhtaev, who lectured on the clinical features of cataract surgery, methods of prevention and control of possible complications, demonstrated and explained the technique of operations; and Hankow V. A., who has taught the material on the device fukamachi and the subtleties of their settings, depending on the density of the cataract operation stages and individual requirements of the surgeon.
St. Petersburg training center "WETLAB" on the basis of Saint-Petersburg branch "IRTC "eye microsurgery" was created in 1990, the first in Russia among such centers, and today continues to operate and develop. Onthe training of Akmanova A. A. was very interesting and useful, and this knowledge will be used in practical work.
