Participation in the Jubilee conference “General and military ophthalmology” September 13-14 (Saint-Petersburg)
The delegation of the Ufa research Institute of eye diseases, headed by the Director, a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Professor M. M. Bikbov took part in the Jubilee conference “General and military ophthalmology” dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Department of ophthalmology of the Military medical Academy. S. M. Kirov. in St. Petersburg on September 13-14.
The first in Russia Department of ophthamology, was opened on 23 September 1818 in the Medico-surgical Academy under the special decree of Alexander I.
In the conference took part more than 300 doctors and researchers from Russia and foreign countries. The conference program included scientific presentations, broadcast “live surgery” in various pathology of the eye, Wetlab cataract surgery and vitreoretinal surgery, satellite symposia and workshops on surgery of the cornea, laser technologies for the treatment of pathologies of the ocular fundus.
Ufa research Institute of eye diseases was presented in two reports.
The first day plenary session was addressed by the Director of the Institute corresponding member Q. Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Professor Bikbov M. M. on the subject "Molecular and cellular mechanisms of UV crosslinking of the cornea". The report aroused great interest among the scientific community.
On the second day at the meeting of the section of young scientists the report was presented by researcher of the Department of surgery of the cornea and lens astrelin M. N. on the topic of "Safety of UV crosslinking of the sclera in experiment in vivo". The message provoked a lively discussion. In the competition of scientific works astrelin M. N. took third place and was awarded a certificate for the purchase of professional literature.
