The Ufa scientists have created a special unit for the treatment of eye disease caused by increased intraocular pressure. At the same time domestic device for carrying out canaloplasty cheaper and, according to the expectations of scientists-ophthalmologists, more durable and more practical than their foreign counterparts.

This little Firefly inside the human eye – a special probe. Glowing fiber optic fishing line helps to clear the so-called schlemm's canal around the iris. When it is closed, the fluid accumulates inside the eye and creates pressure. Using a very fine nylon filament surgeons fix the channel in the open position. Imported ones are inferior to domestic device at another point. They are not collapsible, i.e., disposable. If the Ufa designers will be able to bring this little device to perfection, the treatment of glaucoma for the Russians will be easier and cheaper.
