In Ufa for the first time in Russia, the German ophthalmologist received a medal named after the first Director of the Ufa research Institute of eye diseases, Professor Victor Odintsov.
The first medal of the academic Council of the Institute awarded by the famous ophthalmologist, founder of the whole direction in the treatment of diseases of the cornea, Deputy medical Director of the clinic Hoyerswerda (Germany) Gregor Wollensak, who developed a technique called "corneal collagen Crosslinking". This award is unique and will be awarded to scholars for significant achievements in ophthalmology.
The award ceremony was held within the VII International scientific-practical conference on ophthalmic surgery "East — West-2016", which takes place in Ufa on June 2-3, at the Bashkir state theatre of Opera and ballet. About thousands of leading specialists, chief physicians eye clinics, heads of departments of eye diseases from different cities of Russia, CIS countries, delegates from more than 17 countries of near and far abroad traditionally gathered in the Bashkir capital to discuss the latest trends in the field of ophthalmology. Within two days of the scheduled plenary sessions, educational courses, satellite symposia in the following areas: new technology in phacoemulsification of cataracts, treatment of diseases of the vitreous and retina, corneal pathology and refractive surgery, diagnostics and treatment of glaucoma, inflammatory eye diseases, pediatric ophthalmopathology, injuries of the organ of vision, organization, and eye care.
The conference opened with broadcast of the demonstration operations of the Ufa research Institute of eye diseases, which made leading surgeons from Ufa, Yekaterinburg and Izhevsk. "Live surgery" is traditionally an integral part of the annual meeting of ophthalmologists.
This year the conference is timed to the 90th anniversary of the Ufa research Institute of eye diseases. The Institute has a strong reputation as one of the leadingophthalmic institutions of Russia and Bashkortostan is the center of high technology eye care, including cataract surgery, retinal pathology and vitreous, refractive surgery. To congratulate a medical institution with the anniversary came the former employees of the Institute, the experts who created your eye clinic, who work not only in Ufa, but also abroad. The most important achievement of the Russian ophthalmology is that our patients with vision problems now not go abroad. But due to the fact that Russia is developing in leaps and bounds, all this is reflected in medicine: a vehicles, equipment, supplies have to be purchased abroad. Hopefully, over time, the necessary equipment will be produced and we have."
In the course of the day the participants of the scientific-practical forum "the East — West-2016" will be presented three lecture scientific session of the foreign ophthalmological societies of Germany, India and Japan for young scientists organized an interactive poster session. The participants of the eye care forum will present reports on the diagnosis of the retina, treatment of intraocular tumors, will show clinical cases of diabetes of the eye, detachment of the retina.
Also in the framework of the forum exhibitionmedical equipment, drugs, scientific literature where, in particular, presents the development of the Ufa research Institute of eye diseases.
