The meeting was opened by the President of the Academy of Sciences Gazov a'fis Supyanovich. He congratulated the Director of the Ufa research Institute of eye diseases, corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Professor M. M. Bikbov: and presented him with the "Honorary Diploma of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Bashkortostan" for long and fruitful work. In his speech he drew the attention of the members of the Bureau that at the present time, it is important to improve the health of the population and improving the quality of life of the citizens. The solution to this problem, said the President of the Academy of Sciences, one of the main objectives is the preservation of vision, which successfully solve the ophthalmologists of Ufa research Institute of eye diseases. Prof. Bikbov M. M. was also presented with a welcome address from administration of the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
Director of the Ufa research Institute of eye diseases Bikbov M. M., addressed the members of the Presidium of a scientific report on the topic of "Blindness and laboveta in the Republic of Bashkortostan: major causes and ways to eliminate them", which detailed the results of the ophthalmological service of the Republic, noting problems and ways of their solution. Special attention in the report was paid to the scientific part of the work UF Institute of GB, the results of which are being actively introduced into the practice of ophthalmologists of the Institute and of the Republic. This allows you to steadily increase the number of operations in such socially significant diseases of the eye, as glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration. Thanks to the introduction of the Institute of new technologies, the number of operations for cataract in 2016 exceeded 14 thousand, and the target of cataract surgery in the country is currently a 3.5 operations on 1 thousand population, while in Russia - an average of 2 operations per 1 thousand population.
The members of the Presidium before the meeting had the opportunity to undergo a full diagnostic examination of the organ of vision on the most modernequipment, getting to the end of the meeting, the medical report and recommendations.
