15 large scientific sessions, 35 symposia and 54 training courses were held within the Congress. There were presented 1400 reports, more than 800 posters and video reports. Leading specialists in retinology, vitreoretinal surgery and representatives of large ophthalmology centers spoke on different ophthalmic topics including diagnosis and treatment of age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and other pathologies of posterior eye segment - inflammatory, congenital and oncopathology.  A lot of attention was given to surgical treatment of complex pathology of posterior eye segment and prevention of intraoperative complications in vitreoretinal surgery.

Special emphasize was given to innovations in treatment of congenital retinal diseases. Genetic therapy of this pathology is being developed and already applied. This area of focus is associated with modified virus injection of the “right” gene directly into retinal cells.  The drugs of this group are delivered to fovea subretinally. For easy drug administration a new technology of automatic robot-assisted high-accuracy administration with manual follow-up was developed and is being applied.

Many interesting reports were made on integration of artificial intellect in diagnosis of fundus pathology on the basis of fundus or OCT imaging. The other side of this matter is teaching machines to recognize faulty areas in images, highlight and interpret them. The issue concerning anti-VEGF therapy protocols with the aim of reducing the quantity of injections, prolonging the effect of the drug, reducing its side effects is still being discussed. As for surgery, there were a lot of reports on indications to, advantages and disadvantages of 27G microinvasive vitrectomy.

Each scientific session involved debates and discussions where anyone had an opportunity to share his experience in this aspect of ophthalmology.

The exhibition showcased the latest diagnostic systems and surgical instruments. Innovative diagnostic systems swеpt-sourse OCT and OCT- angiography with method of intellectual image analysis and surgical system of improved intraoperative fundus visualization with 3D attracted the most interest.
