Indian society of ophthalmologists created in the 30-ies of the last century, and is successfully operating to this day. Made up of over 16,000 doctors. The Congress was attended by a record number of delegates - more than 7,000 Indian and invited participants from more than 10 countries.
The society of ophthalmologists of India organizes an annual conference in which a number of scientific programmes, symposia, seminars, workshops, refresher courses, which contributes to the formation of young specialists, actively strengthening ties between practitioners in all States of the country. Under the leadership of the Society produced a magazine, published materials and copies thereof sent to all members of Society, which in turn covers almost all clinics of the country and supports the quality of medicine at a high level.
The scientific program of the conference included more than 150 presentations dedicated to various issues of diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the eye. The Congress held an exhibition of manufacturers of pharmaceutical products, equipment, and exhibition and sale of professional literature.
At the end of the Congress the delegation of ophthalmologists visited the factories producing medical instruments, intraocular lenses and ophthalmic equipment.
