IV microsurgical Department of the Ufa research Institute of eye diseases is a multidisciplinary unit, organized in 1982.
In the Department annually receive surgical care and conservative treatment of about 2,000 patients with different types of ophthalmological diseases.

The Department staff are:
Vitreoretinal surgery of retinal detachment
Vitreoretinal surgery for proliferative diabetic retinopathy
Vitreoretinal surgery of dislocated lens and IOL into the vitreous body
Vitreoretinal surgery of hemophthalmos
Seamless micro-invasive vitreoretinal surgery (23, 25G)
Extrascleral surgery of retinal detachment
Removal of foreign bodies of any location, regardless of their magnetic properties
Reconstructive surgery for trauma
Intravitreal injection of drugs (triamcinolone, Lucentis)
Cataract surgery :phacoemulsification, extracapsular and intracapsular extraction with implantation of artificial lens leading foreign and domestic manufacturers.
Glaucoma surgery, including combined treatment of a combination of cataracts and glaucoma, fistulizing operationsoperations with the use of drains, cyclodestructive operation.

Currently working in Department 4 of the surgeon, among them 2 doctors of the highest qualification category, 2 candidates of medical Sciences. In addition, since 2006, on the basis of the IV microsurgical Department has 4 staff of the scientific Department of vitreoretinal surgery, from them 4 candidates of medical Sciences. The specialists were trained in vitreoretinal surgery in the IRTC "eye microsurgery", mnii of eye diseases. Helmholtz, in Germany, in addition, they annually participate in scientific conferences, congresses in Russia and abroad.

The Department provides surgical and conservative treatment of patients with different ophthalmopathology. However, the priority of the Department is currently pathology of the retina and vitreous. Has considerable experience in the surgical treatment of one of the most serious diseases of the eye - retinal detachment. This kind of disease although much rarer than, for example, cataract or glaucoma, however, requires special attention because of their severity, difficulty of treatment and more often becomes the cause of disability due to late treatment to the doctor. In detached retina in pretty quickly irreversible degenerative processes even in case of favorable outcome of the operation.The Department developed and implemented a patented gentle methods scleroplastic operations.

In the Department the surgical treatment of retinal detachment of different etiology, proliferative diabetic retinopathy, hemophthalmos, dislocations of the crystalline lens and the IOL into the vitreous body, in some cases carried out the removal of magnetic and nonmagnetic foreign bodies from the posterior segment of the eye. Depending on the extent of the detachment, executed a sectoral or circular impression of the sclera, including ballyroan. The aim of the operation is the blocking of the rupture of the retina, weakening of the CCT from the vitreous body. In cases of tractional retinal detachment with severe proliferative changes of the vitreous vitrectomy is performed. In such situations, a temporary tamponade of the air-gas mixture or substitutes of the vitreous body. The final step is the laser coagulation of the retina.

In proliferative DR performed vitrectomy and removal preretinal membranes. The operation is performed by access of the 3 points through a flat part of the ciliary body, with the use of the irrigation system, endometrialhyperplasia.
