The monograph is devoted to issues of secondary intraocular correction of aphakia in children. The book presents its own experience and data of domestic and foreign scientific literature on the problem. The results of secondary implantation of IOL from the capsule and scleral suture fixation, in a comparative perspective deals with the complications of different ways of fixing the lens and peculiarities of the postoperative period in children. A separate Chapter is devoted to the author's method of intrascleral fixation of a posterior chamber IOL that can eliminate the disadvantages of scleral fixation. The experimental morphological substantiation of the method and the results of its application in clinical practice.
The book also provides data of hydrodynamics eyes and gonioscopic features of the anterior chamber angle in children with aphakia and in some time after the surgery. Special attention is paid to study the effect of secondary IOL implantation on the functional and psychophysical indicators aficionado eyes with low vision after the removal of unilateral congenital cataract and proved the feasibility of performing intraocular correction in this cohort of children. The authors have developed indications and contraindications to the use of different methods of fixation of a posterior chamber IOL in secondary intraocular correction of aphakia in children depending on the state of the capsular bag of the lens, the age of the child, one - or bilateral nature of aphakia, the condition of the fluid dynamics of the eye and the anterior chamber angle.
