This book is the result of years of interesting, although time-consuming work and is based not only on theoretical knowledge but on extensive clinical material.

The idea of its creation originated over 20 years ago when clinical practice was implemented innovative methods of treating keratectasia, using different types and modifications of surgical interventions on the cornea, and then improved and a new pathogenetically oriented methods preserve complete continuity of the treatment process.

In the mid 90-ies, proposed by Professor M. M. Bikbov, way "Epicanthoplasty with the use of native bilisi in the surgical treatment of advanced stages of ectasia and acute keratoconus" came into wide practice, and later was included in the top ten achievements of the corneal surgery the last decade (Ophthalmology Times Europe).

Proposed in 2003 by Professor G. Wollensak and Professor T. Zeiler method "corneal Crosslinking" for the first time in Russia was introduced in our Institute. The efforts of Professor M. M. Bikbov:, Bikbova G. M. and a group of engineers in 2006 for the first time in Russia has developed a technological package that includes a domestic machine for the "Crosslinking of the cornea", ophthalmology products, and devices for saturation of the cornea, which to this day are widely used in many clinics of Russia and abroad.

The next step in the introduction of innovative methods was the use of stromal corneal ring "Myoring" (DIOPTEX, Austria), invited by Professor A. Daxer and voschedshee in clinical practice for the first time in Ufa research Institute of eye diseases. Professor Bikbov M. M. A. Daxer proposed to target the use of "Myoring" for the treatment of keratectasia, that was the beginning of joint works in this aspect.

In addition to these methods in our practice, we apply all knownsurgical and therapeutic approaches in the treatment of keratoconus, which allowed to systematize the results of years of work and publish this book.

This work is a collection of lectures, experimental and scientific research, clinical findings which will be useful to students, practitioners and young scientists in their daily work and future academic penalties.
